What is the ADA Seal of Acceptance?

Posted .

The American Dental Association seal of acceptance is a logo you should look for when choosing an oral hygiene product for your smile. This logo is a small square that has green lettering inside. The green lettering says “ADA Accepted. American Dental Association.” If the product you choose has this symbol on it, that means that the product has been approved for safety and effectiveness.

The ADA has been testing products since 1931 and it is still the gold standard to this day. In fact, this program has higher standards than the traditional law, and it does not accept any product that does not exceed those expectations. So, if you clean your smile with an ADA-approved product, your chompers will be safe and effectively cleaned.

Some products that the ADA frequently evaluates are:

· Toothbrushes
· Toothpastes
· Mouthwash, including plaque control, fluoride, and non-prescription rinse
· Flossing products
· Denture products, like denture cleaners and adhesives
· Teeth-whitening bleach
· Sports mouthguards
· Sugar-free gum that reduces cavities
· Temporary pain relievers
· Fluoride brush-on gel
· Water filters
· Emergency tooth preservation products
